Daily struggles

When asked to share the things that make their lives difficult, the predominant answer was other people's behaviour.

While in general most interviewees said they were having relatively good experiences on a day to day basis, it became particularly evident that a lot of micro-aggressions occur during mundane situations. Sometimes, more serious incidents or can make a huge difference on their well-being and feeling of safety.

I came out at work. I haven't had any negative experiences as such, everyone has been supportive, even if family have had to make an adjustment.

I find it difficult when I am misgendered by anyone - whether I know them or not. It is like being punched in the face.

The thing that I wish people would understand is how painful it is to be misgendered. People think that they are being friendly referring to someone (or a group of people) in gendered terms...but if they get it wrong for a trans person, it is painful. It can ruin my day.

When I first went to my GP, it turned out he had no experience of it whatsoever. And he...used what we would call...the 'wrong' kind of language.

There should be better access to resources. Without the internet it would be so much more difficult. There should be better access to stuff like binders and better information.
